no the wii can not play dvds many hope that a firmware update later in the year of 08 will allow us to veiw dvds but no where near HD dvds

Even if a firmware update would allow us to watch DVDs on the Wii Nintendo would most likely sell the DVD Channel for $5 or $10.

Actually it does have DVD Reading Software.. Well I believe it does.. I've heard it before..

The Wii disks are DVDs with Wii games on them, therefore with a firmware update the wii could play DVD movies

but if you pay,somewhere,it lets you watch more than just youtube videos. i forgot what it was called but it's expensive.

Seriously, HH? That voids the warranty? Thanks for letting me no before I thought about trying it. wow.

And even if the wii got an update that would allow it to play DVDs, I would probably still use my PS2. It feels like I'm using an actual DVD player more than if I was using the wii.
