The Wiimote's Greatest Challenger?

For those who hadn't heard, the Wiimote is SOO holiday season '06 and '07. Here's a clip from the guys who want to make your next Wiimote...or PS4mote...or Xbox 720mote. A system that allows for 6 degrees of movement (X, Y, Z, Yaw, Pitch and Roll), this InterSense technology may be spec'd identically to the Wiimote, but it works a lot better (as tested with lightsaber battle).

Even playing this admittedly buggy tech demo of a light saber battle, we were impressed by the responsiveness of the controller. Maybe it was the audio tracking technology (think sonar as opposed to IR) or maybe it was the fact that 3/4 of the television's frame was covered in receivers (as opposed to the Wii's tiny "sensor bar"). Don't expect to see this as a PC peripheral...ever. They're aiming for large contracts (like a console manufacturer) and commercial applications only.

Wow, the future is SCARY. Ugh Microsoft & Sony, get your own ideas for once. Stop leeching off Nintendo. =P

well it is nintendo who started the copying...when microsoft started making consoles...nintendo stopped with their card games and also started making consoles...so everybody ever copy's something

What a surprise that everyone seems to be copying Nintendo yet again. Just shows how good Nintendo is though if everyone is copying their ideas.

You do know that motion sensing has been around for years before the wiimote right.
Copying each other is just how better products are made.

Motion-sensing is great and all, but I think that more emphasis needs to be placed on the old-school types of games. I'm really getting sick of going into Gamestop or somewhere and being accosted by dozens of crappy games made by people trying to get a quick buck off of the motion-sensing fad.

Just because it's legal to steal people's ideas doesn't mean that people are going to pat you on the back for finding the loophole.
