Assault Rifle or SMG on CC

Im just wondering which of those are the best weapon for close combat, like the AK-47 vrs. UMP, or the Scar vrs. other.

UMP or shotty is best at close range

UMP is a very good choice for close quarter combat. Modify it with Magazine I to have 45 bullets is a must.
