what the hell am i missing??? why cant i get it??? i am using
azureus and trying to get the Grady Cole Center Coldplay show
from 1/25/03 and cant for the life of me figure it out. there are
no ip's, url's, but i can see the show listed on db.etree.org ....

please help! this is quite possibly the most frustrated i have ever
been with my puter.

Go there and hit up the FAQ (if you haven't already). You could also try searching for the show in mp3 or SHN format. The only real benefit of BT's and SHNs is that they're a form a lossless compression, so you don't lose any audio quality. The mp3s, of course, will be a little compressed but still more than listenable.

I used to be hardcore into trading/dl'ing live shows. I've got tons of shows - great for the partays. One of the best sources I ever used for dl'ing is a program called Furthur [ http://www.furthurnet.org/index.php ] - it's all legal p2p sharing, multi-user downloads [ antelope ], and they have a pretty broad range of music, not just jambands and the like.

yus, it r true, i am, but i have another question too.

does anyone have any good links/tutorials on .shn and .flac
files?

im trying to figure these shits out and what software i will need
to convert to cd audio, mp3 audio, etc..

and can they be played w/o extracting/decompressing into another
file format?

SHN is short for Shorten. It is a lossless compression algorithm for digital music. It was developed by SoftSound ( http://www.softsound.com/ ). It compresses music files 1/2 to 1/3 of their original size, maintaining perfect sound quality. You can play SHN files by downloading SHNAmp ( http://www.etree.org/shnamp.html ), which is a plugin that allows you to play SHN files through WinAMP. For SHN conversions, use the mkwACT ( http://www.etree.org/mkw.html ).

http://flac.sourceforge.net/faq.html - hit that link up for your FLAC needs. I'm not realy familiar with it, so probably best to just read up. I do remember seeing this when I was using the Exact Audio Copy program - I think you can use that to create FLACs. And, like SHNAmp, I'm pretty sure there are plug-ins you can download to allow you to access and play FLAC files through WinAMP/WindowsMP.
