It could happen anytime (I think). It happens all the time but by the time they come down to earth they've burnt out into a little pebble. I think technology by 2036 will be advanced enough to prevent this from happening.

Dont also forget that wikipedia is a free to edit place, anyone can edit it ;)

We have a whole load of 'near misses' all the time. Some by asteroids/meteors that could be devastating, some not so. We don't hear about all of them because it's very hard to spot something traveling towards earth before its too late. We just don't have the means to search the whole of space at the same time. So 'Yes' this really could happen. But imagine throwing a pebble into the sea and hitting a fish dead, chances are you're not going to do it! Same with an asteroid hitting Earth.

Dude. last month a meteorite past by earth. It almost killed us too. Last year also. This one would probably past by earth like the others did. Last time i saw discovery channel it said a giant meteorite was going to hit earth. instead it just pass by.

I have really heard alot about this aswell. Before I was a little woried about this, but that was a long time ago. I have seen on TV that they are coming up with technology to destroy astroids if one was to actually come this way and be harmful, but the odds are very very tiny.
