Some by asteroids/meteors that could be devastating, some not so. We don't hear about all of them because it's very hard to spot something traveling towards earth before its too late. We just don't have the means to search the whole of space at the same time. So 'Yes' this really could happen. But imagine throwing a pebble into the sea and hitting a fish dead, chances are you're not going to do it! Same with an asteroid hitting Earth.</p></blockquote><p></p>
