freeloader allows for users to play games from a different region on their console...

well i think i'm going to buy another wii, and not update the firmware just to play cube games

Yeah no point buying another Wii just to play a gamecube game, just buy a gamecube for like £20 since this method was only for gamecube games anyway.

Thats good advice, im just keeping my cube so that i can play my import games. I dont really mind that i cant use a freeloader on my wii, it would have been better if the wii was multi region anyway.

Was about to suggest that. I'm sure they're going cheap on eBay since most folk won't play import games so their GC is pretty useless once they buy a Wii. I'd quite happily offload mine if I thought the money I'd get for it would be worth the effort.

Plus if you buy a Wii with the intention of just not updating the firmware from what I hear you won't be able to play new Wii games in it anyway so if you load up Metroid Prime 3 by accident it'll install the new firmware for you, pretty much sinking that plan. * Buy a GC.

* This applies to legal copies of games. You can remove this feature in pirated/downloaded games.

You can disable the update on the disc if it is a downloaded game being played on a modded console so even a new game will play just fine. All those who wish to have old firmware on an un-modded console will not be able to play future games as they will need to update.
