Do you do any excercise / sport?

Tell us, do you do any exercises or any kind of sport? I mean, do you play any kind of sport to stay in shape, or anything else for that matter? If so, do share.
I was thinking of a friend who told me all about her dancing experience. She loved to dance and sing and would someday would like to make a living with it. She also told me that she had to run to catch a bus a while ago. Not too long ago, I had to run the same kind of distance, but I was completely out of breath afterwards - she didn't have any trouble with it. When she asked me if I did any to exercise or any kind of sport, I answered negative. This also occured a while ago with another friend at school.

When someone would ask me, 'do you do any kind of sport,' my answer would be negative. To school friends they'd get the answer of: "Walking to school from the train station is all the exercise I am willing to do," which really is much of the truth.
Many people don't believe that that is just about all kind of exercise I do, and they're right, because it isn't. As a matter of fact, when I do exercise, I do it intensively. Once a year, just about all my friends get together and we play a single game of football/soccer. Doesn't sound very tough, right? Well, guess again. Everyone of us (one exception) have either a desk-job or are studying at school for a desk-job (me; I'm the last one that studies of all my friends). To make matters worse (or more funny), we play for about eight hours straight... with a break every five to ten minutes because we're completely exhausted. I know, it sounds sad, but I mean, we don't really have the time to exercise, okay? Well, except me and another guy, because I still have a bit of spare time, still attending to College and stuff.

Of course I still love football, and I watch it just about always when its on TV ("Okay, I admit. Watching the Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Dutch-amateur leagues is overkill." - Danny Koevermans, a football player of AZ Alkmaar), I'm no die-hard, but I still like to watch it. That doesn't mean that I'm all that good at it (okay, I suck), but I still like to play it with some friends once in a while. Last summer I played with the kid across the street once in a while; haven't done that this summer. This either means that I'm getting lazy (damn you Elianne), or... uh... well, I think that's just about the only explanation there is, isn't it? Because I don't have obvious less free or spare time than last year. As a matter of fact, with the love-incident, other people's graduation and my own school troubles going on, I think I had less time last year. :p

Anyway, share it if you do any excercises and/or sports.

I play tennis every summer. Never really bothered to play it inside courts so im useally in good shape in summer but then get into bad shape towards the winter. Then at the spring when the outside courts get their nets i start playing tennis again and get into better shape etc. Its a circle :)

I also enjoy watching tennis on the tv. I always watch all the grandslams. Also most of the smaller tournaments too, if they just show them on tv and im aware of them.

Not really interested in any other sports.

The only sport I'm currently active in evolves around a certain bodypart of mine and my right hand.

Besides from that I despise all sports such as football, handball and the like. I used to enjoy Basketball though but that was ages ago when I was still a little kid.

I have no particular interest in tennis, but I don't mind watching it. I've tried to play it some time a few years ago, but I was terrible in it and haven't tried it since. I did notice a tennis court on my way to school (about halfway). I might check that out some time.

Oh? Why despise all sports?

There was a time when I didn't like any sport either, but that was when I was a kid. I then learned about SC Heerenveen and been a supporter ever since.

Many sports are enjoyable to play but I don't take part in any regularly. However, I do go running for exercise regularly.

Oh? Why despise all sports?.

Besides from Basketball I am not very good at the other sports (not hopeless but not good) and I've always found it boring to watch sport on the tv aside from some accisonal tennis matches and Basketball games, but it's rare I watch any kind of sport. I just find it boring, both to play and watch, I got enough sport activities in gym class to last for the rest of my life.

So? Aside from playing football/soccer from time to time (last year at least) I am not... uh... decent in any other sport (though it's hard to say I did any other sport; especially basketball, considering my length) nor have I any interest in any.

Reminds me a bit of my mother and myself when I was young. My mother doesn't care about any kind of sport (unlike when she was young) and only watches a sport on tv when either my father or me tuned in on it. She often falls asleep during the game though, but considering her extremely bad condition, it is remarkable enough that she stays awake as long as she does.
Before I was born, she cared little to nothing about football, in opposite of my father who always has been a football fan, unlike myself or my brother. She will never forget the torment that she was draged away from the TV when the football World Cup was on and Holland played Belgium, as I recall. I've heard her mention that to me over and over again. I was born during that game. Ironically enough, neither she or I can recall the final result of that game.

My original interest of football came because of the football European Cup (EC) and the mood that was made in the entire country. Holland always had a strong squad and always had a chance on winning the title - not that they ever did - and that made just about everyone in a great mood, especially on days when they actually play. I love that positive mood and still do. I didn't have much interest in the game itself though.
But it's impossible to deny that football is by FAR the most popular sport out here (hockey being next, and I don't have a clue what's third). Back at elementery school, people always would come up to me and ask what club I supported, the most common reactions being Ajax (Dutch champions from the capital), Feyenoord (Ajax's rivals from the Harbor city, Rotterdam) and the local club. Out of pure annoyance I remember saying Fortuna (Sittard, quite far from where I live, not to mention a relatively unknown club. Currently the weakest of ALL professional teams out here) and I loved the reactions of others. Because I honestly didn't know much about Fortuna (or any other team for that matter), my opinion later switched to a team that was a little more known, but not enough to let people ask. I remember choosing between Willem II (Tilburg), Roda JC (Kerkrade), FC Groningen (Groningen) and SC Heerenveen (Heerenveen). Not knowing any of them anyway, I decided to pick on the colors. Willem II being Red/White, Roda JC being Yellow/Black, FC Groningen being Green/White and SC Heerenveen being Blue/White. I went for the Blue/White, which looked nicest on the eyes, in my opinion.
Several years later I decided to do a little bit of research into the club I was supposed to support. I read a bit about their history and immediately got interested in Fryslan's legend, Abe Lenstra. A talented man in every sport that contained a ball... and skating as only exception, being great in that too. Because of Abe, I got interested in the club and tried to find out more about it, learning that the general supporters are people I am interested in doing business with and their mentallity was something I loved as well. In opposite of their rival club, SC Cambuur Leeuwarden (Leeuwarden), the club from a mere village, SC Heerenveen, kept the reputation of Fryslan standing.

Since that day forward, I have been a loyal supporter of SC Heerenveen (the SC standing for 'Sport Club'). I rarely watch a game in the stadium because of the insanely long travel times by train (and bad connections), but I like it there. I am no Frisian, but I feel like I understand their way of life.

I just find it boring, both to play and watch, I got enough sport activities in gym class to last for the rest of my life.
Don't say that too loud. I've had gym class for more than eleven years as I recall, but when I got in College, it all stopped. The day I graduated from high school was the time my friends and I started to organize our little come-togethers to play. The first time we did it was bad enough as it was, but it only became worse.

Then I remind myself... I'm going to stand, jump and dance for ten hours straight next year at a certain specific date again during a concert in Amsterdam. I really have to work on my condition before going there... (you're safe to say that I was better off dead when I came home from that concert; I've never been that tired (physically) in my entire life)

I haven't had gym class the past 3 years and my shape hasen't changed much. I'm still in a semi-lousy one, but it's enough to handle concerts and such so I don't complain.

Then you obviousely have a better natural fitness than I do. :p That my lazyness increased after I met Elianne (and Felix, whom are both classmates) is a fact though. My condition suffered from that too.

The years that I didn't have gym class has been more than 3 years (more if you count the last year of high school, which I sat more than I moved during gym class) but I also studied for a desk job during high school too (two years). Administration and trade, to be exact, I switched to accountancy later during college (and later to laws).

I have no problem with concerts though. If I dance all the time for three hours (like most concerts) I am usually quite tired by the time I get home, but Koninginnedag really was different. We had to leave home early to get the right train, then walk an hour when we reached Amsterdam and then the concert itself. We danced, jumped and sang for ten hours straight and then walked back to Amsterdam's station (another hour walk, this time mostly because of the many people who wanted home). When we finally got back in our own city, we missed the last bus, so we decided to walk home, which took a small hour too. Probably more than an hour, because I don't get the exact time when I got home. (I went to bed during 2 AM, nearing the 3 AM). In one word: I was 'dead'.
