I started golfing a couple of months ago, and let me tell you, I'm really a n00b. Any of you golf? If so what kind of training aids and/or equip do you use?

I have a used set of Ben Hogan irons from friggin 1960, but I bought a king cobra 350ss driver (demo model for $109 w00t).

yah, golf is definetly good times, I don't play as much as I used to, but when I do I havea great time. As far as training aids, I have never really used any. I took a golf class in college, that is the most training I have had, pretty much taught myself how to swing and such from watchin on tv. All I know is people say I havea great looking swing, I just need to play more to get it consistent. Right now I have a set of Knight clubs, definetly would like to upgrade to some Titlests or Nikes if I start playin more again.

i broke 90 the first time by going out to the range and hitting balls.
i would watch golf channel or read golf magazine and pick up tips
and tricks and try them out there. some work, most dont. to me its
really just about finding your swing and repeating it. watch good
golfers swing and try to emualte it, that did it for me.

i got some lefty clubs im trying to get rid of, callaway X-12 (3-Wedge),
if you know someone who would be interested.

I actually work at a golf course, so i golf all the time, for free I might add. I am in a tournament tomorrow morning 8 am in Southern WI so it will be bitch ass cold. Go to the range often to get your swing down, at least keep it consistent, it doesnt necessarily have to look good. The most noticeable thing you can do to drop your scores is to practice your short game. Learn to chip on a practice green and work on low irons on the range (8, 9, PW). Also if your course has practice sand traps work on hitting out of them consistantly(its not as hard as it seems). And of course, putt a lot from different distances. Often it is the speed of a putt and not the aim that will help lower your score.(Better to be 3 feet left of the hole than 15 feet past it). If you dont wanna practice that much just play a lot and you'll notice improvement. I play all the time and still only shoot like 82-87 most days. ANd thats on my course that i know well. Most importantly, have fun, drink losta beer and dont whine if you mess up cuz nobody likes a crybaby.

Satan, the tourney was in Kenosha and we actually won! 11 under par, which was a 58 total. It was a bit cold but once we started moving it was actually a very nice day. We had a 15 year old ringer on our team and he did most of the work. Where you live Satan?

Thanks to those of you who posted pertinent info. I plan to take lessons at a local course in the spring.

Anyway, I never thought golf was too interesting until I played. It is a challenging game where you get to drink and drive with friends, colleagues, and clients. Best of all, my company pays for it and I get to go during work hours W00T!
