Hacking

Discuss hacking. Why do people hack? Is it for funds? For fame? For fun?
Argue the three eff's, Myself I think that it's a result of boredom. How depressed do you have to be to get guessing someone's password? I mean it's ok to do it for fun 3 times or so just for the fun but when you start using programs to do it then where's the fun? In getting access to what you want? Why? It'll be taken away.

I geuss it depends on who hacks who as with what happened to terran he couldnt get any fame or fortune sure maybe it was fun for him in the begining but eventually he just went overboard. It could also be revenge, who knows. I know when i hack well its not really hacking its more along trying to geuss teh password on one of my really old accounts i find its for fun to see how much i have changed from to now.

It depends mostly on motives. Speaking to a former black-hat, the biggest drive to hack is trying to get at confidential information. In a way, it's a sort of challenge to get at anything that is hidden from you.

On the other hand, hacking sometimes plays in important role in seeing how bulletproof a piece of software is.

Finally, some resort to hacking as revenge, which would probably fall into the "fun" category as well. Fun, at least, in a very sadistic sense.

Hacking has its good parts as well... I must admit that I personally never really experienced any of them, but then again, I don't have (too) much experience with the bad part of hacking either... or at least, not personally.

The real kind of hacking is a bit underestimated nowadays though. Unfortunately, I have very little knowledge on this subject, partly because I hold no particular interest in it.

Not necessarily. The good part of hacking is just not as famous. I mean, when a big company is hacked, it is immediately big news. When the security is being checked by a hacker, it wouldn't even have a chance to get into the news.

REVENGE!!!.... amongst other things... :p
Usually (at least, with my experience) hacking is involved with one person's dislike for another person because of past wrongs.... either that or they just like to cause some mischief.

I'd like to say that anyone that hacks acounts in a game (like WoW) truly has NO life. I mean come on, do you really need to mess around with other people's characters? It's just sad.

Well since my cd-key got hacked on war3 im going to say it is because of multiple reasons, they are poor and can't get money so they have to hack things rather then buy, obviously they must find it fun so ill go along with that and also because most of the people able to hack probly think their tough guys just cause they can hack.

Well, the guy who invented hacking intended it to be used for good.

Now look at the present time: there's arses that take information on how to hack and use it for their absurd purposes. Now is that a good cause? To a guy mad at someone or some group it would, but not to the folks being hacked.

And as for the hacking WoW thing, I wouldn't bother cause WoW is just a scam anyways (it murders lore of the game series it's of).

Oh, and just a question for you guys: Have you ever heard or read about a kid known as Mafiaboy?
