workin on a site for a blues band. did this up today, not that much yet but it's the starter.

heres the main layout, no content stuff in yet.

and here's the layout with the nav shown. the user will mouse over the name and the nav will come up.

would love some c&c on this as it progresses.

also, i'll be doing an animated mock up once i get some other stuff taken care of so keep an eye here for updates.

Is that going to be the speed that it rolls from band name to navigation? I hope it is...I love that it's not all crappy slow motion taking forever trying to be "purdy" cause all I really want when I go to a site is to get to the part of the site I want to go to...not sit and look at something scrolling in slow motion.


I really like the wooden planks....I think it would be cool if the bands name was burnt on to the wood...like a brand or something.... I know you have a grand plan...just throwing an idea out there.

thats a GREAT idea!! preciate that. we'll see what the client has to say about where it is and i'll definately bring it up to him as well.

and yes, thats the speed at which the name/nav change will happen. i'm not a fan of just waiting for no reason

ain't no way i'm taking on a student while i'm still really learning myself.

the best advice anyone can give anyone concerning using photoshop to it's max potential is this.

there is no spoon man. seriously. it's a program. it has a LOT of options.

do tutorials at any site you can find. do 5 of them, then do one piece utilizing all of those techniques in one composition. let me know if you want the tut site links that i've compiled over the years.

when you think about compostion, don't forget to think about period or "theme" objects to fill up the space a bit. make it look lived in unless you want it totally pristene.

and more than anything, always experiment.
