laptop wireless new question

I feel kinda dumb asking this, but i'm not familar with this subject. Anyway I just got my laptop and didn't know i Had wireless or anything, then I look on my taskbar and see where it says there are two sources or whatever that I can connect to get log onto the net. Anyone know if this is safe to use etc? and how or if I get charged for using it?

i would d/c all sources except the one you use...it can only hinder ur current connection unless one is wireless and one is cable
