Nvidia vs ATI

I was told that ATI was the one to use with Steam and that Nvidia has problems. ie Lag issues.

Any truth to this?

I have lagg, but its not an issue, because Im thinking its from my 786 megahertz, I'd like to have a gig but I dont feel like wasting gas money.
I play source with these megahertz and I run fine too. however HL2 sucks ass bad with that kinda speed.

A video card is not going to give you lag issues....


Lag is based on your connection from your computer to the server that you are playing on.

Although, if you set up your video parameters incorrectly for the game then you can give your view the appearance of lag. But then again, I am a noob.

Im fine with my 6800 GT. It only gets 60fps in CZ ,but thats cause its limited somehow. Rock Lee knows more about this.

6800 GT is mine as well. only issues i have are with my ghetto fab
mobo/processor which i will fix here shortly.


btw, i fixed that 60fps problem for like 2 weeks then it went back down,
and now its back to 100. somebody plz tell me wtf...

I have a 6600GT and my fps is 60, but it seems to stay there.

1 gig of ram and an athalon 3000+ 1.8 mhz processor give me all the power i need for source.

Next idea is talk to Casualty or look up his FPS posts using the search function of the forums. He has been able to help a few people in big ways I have heard.

im straight, 100fps now, kind of bouncy sometimes, but its the bottleneck
created by my un1337 mobo. if i knew anything to post to help you other
guys out stablilizing i would. best thing is to do what puppet said, do your
homework, and tweak all the angles and test in-game until you like the
performance. i dont think there is an easy "quick fix" as everyones
system/connex varies.

i got an geforce 7800gtx and no problems at all...

it wont matter what card u get. ati x800s were made to run well with hl2 is all people are saying.

I have no idea what I have in my old homebuilt box, but how does it feel when you get shot by a monkee who only runs 30 fps? :twisted:
