I play Combat Arms on my desktop, which runs ok. When you ready up and load into a game it takes about 45 seconds - 2 minutes. Does anyone know how to take this time down. I will perform upgrades like RAM upgrades but nothing major. Im just wondering if there is anything I could do.

I went in and changed in administrator to run CA in windowns 98 and not Vista... That helped me a bunch...

I takes me about 5-10 secs to get into a game (nVidia Geforce 7600 gs and 2 GB RAM)
I havn't tried it on my new one tho (nVidia Geforce 285, AMD Quad core and 4 GB RAM)
Both on XP, i dunno is its a RAM thing cause i notice when theres more people online it takes longer to load up to the log in screen.

It takes me max 5 seconds to get in-game. Only thing to do is upgrad ram, or if needed, get a better processor.

not necessarily true.

plenty of bottle necks that could have been hit: nexxon server status (15 seconds for me was right before a patch), your hard drive speed, wifi stability issues etc

My connection is wired, but it's not high-speed. I have like 2 gb of RAM, however I'm not sure what my processor is. I know how to check the GHZ, however I'm away from my desktop right now and I'll be back to it on Monday. I was thinkng of upgrading to 4 gb of ram.

If it does make sense.
If your are running a 32Bit Operating System, 3GB are the maximum of performance...

oh, i just read it's possible with Vista 32Bit SP1, but your running XP, right? So sorry.

ghz isn't quiet so important as processor type. 2 ghz running through a Phenom or an i7 is much better than an OC'd pentium running at 4 ghz (or even 5 ghz).

again though, there is no reason to use 3 gigs of ram in windows XP unless you're doing something crazy like video editing, 3d modeling, or something like that. 2 Gig should be more than enough
