dont get plasma or lcds; quality suxors ! CRTS still offer teh best quality and they are cheap. I suggest you look into the sony wegas if you have room. Or wait for teh new technology by samsung...it will have better quality than plasma and lcds. Technology will keep improving; rollup screens will be out soon. Just my 2 pennies.

I got a 42" plasma ED set, I liek the picture better than any of the HD sets for the same money. its a monitor, so no tuner I have to have it pluged into cable, or a PC.

I would buy a LCD or a DLP projection system but you have to like it with your own eyes. The "screen door" efect is distractiong on most of the HD sets so I don't find the "higher res" to be better. an ED set with component DVD and cable input will blow you away and save you $500 on the set.

I think HD needs to settle down into a standard, they are on the 3rd "upgrade" and the shit isn't evan mainstream brodcast yet for another 8 years? let HD syncronize into 1 product line, 1 format.

I got a Samsung plasma only because I saw this crystal clear picture on it in Best Buy. At that time I was ignorant enough to think that if I bought that tv that all my shows would be that crystal clear. So after parting with a few thousand dollars I was a little bothered by the fact that Best Buy pumps HDTV into every set in the store and the fact of it all is, if you have satellite then you can only get a few of those HDTV channels and the local channels you will need an HD antenna. I changed over to cable and found that it included my local channels in HDTV and for some reason satellite companys are not allowed to transmit local channels in hdtv. Why am I telling you all of this? Because if I had known the full story I wouldn't have parted with a few thousand. Plasma is hype. I don't need that much definition.

Sony and Toshiba have better definition than most right now...theyre who everyone has been following in technology. Most of the manufacturers have fallen into line behind them so almost any set will be decent----but if youre gonna spend some serious $$$$ definitely get a sony or toshiba HD as large as possible. I bought a 36" sony wega with all the options a few years ago and now the price has gone down a third----its an awesome set.

Well, I bought one this weekend. I set it up yesterday and watched a little bit of cable TV on it. I'm pleased thus far, but I will let you know what I think once I have time to play with it.
