small lag(?) problem

when I play CZ now, every few seconds the screen kind of freezes and vibrates, then releases me. So I will run forward, stop in mid stride, have a siezure, then continue on my way. It almost feels like I'm running faster than I should be allowed to and the freezing is trying to balance it out.....

Moneybags mentioned having the problem in the past....if anyone else has had it....what do I do to fix it? I'm using the defective Alien Ware (that's getting a new mother board, and video card next week) is it possible that it just a bad setting?

Thanks,
Chris

I dont get complete stopping like that, but I do get where it drops to about 15fps at least once every 5 rounds.

I've had the same problem and I've traced it to a server refresh issue.

Ahh, we have naysayers? Ok......

It's simple to know it's server. Why? How? Just look at ur ping right after u "un-lock" and u will see it's 2-3x higher than ur usual ping on the server, but then flutters down to norm after 2-3 seconds.

Ok, even more proof u need. Go play on another server and see what happens. If it doesn't then, oh, it must be the server!

Do you have a dual core processor?
If so, you'll probably need to disable one of the processors after you launch the game. You can do this in Task Manager by right clicking on the process (probably hl.exe) and selecting "Set Affinity..." From there, it doesn't matter which processor you disable as long as you disable one.

You have to do it everytime you start up CZ. The same thing will happen to other older games (basically anything that's not on a good graphics engine like HL2 and FEAR).
There is a way to have it turn one processor off everytime you start up CZ (like a script) but it's not really tested and can cause problems from what I gather. It's safer to just manually do it each time. You get used to it =D
