Stories... Poems?

The Story Forum should really be called the Writing Forum...but anyways.
We post poems there because they don't have anywhere else to go.
And a poem forum would be dead. Fast.

It can be, but then in other ways it isn't at all.
A lot of old poems were stories. However, the ones today are usually describing something in the form of poetry. Sometimes there is a little bit of a story tied in, usually none at all.

i see more peotry than stories... not just in words but in art... i think it would be fine to have a collection of artistic minds forum or something of that nature...

Not here, at the moment. Right now, there are more stories than poems, not to mention that the original 'Stories' are far more popular than the poems.

Poems are (often) quite short as well. If that is the thing you don't like, then start on a somewhat longer story like If, and only if. :p

I'm not... am I?

I'm not saying people should write with "length", but I'd prefer more than one sentence in a single post. But then again, that's just my opinion...

Want me to explain it? :p

Definitely. Going straight to the point is often better than giving a lot of details, but that also depends on the person. I, for one, could try, but I am not able to shorten my style of writings.

When something is short, less can be described, and sometimes more feeling could be put into words.
