What came first? The Chicken or The Egg?

Theoritically. I believe that the Egg came first. Seeming as the Chicken had to come from somewhere. But that would take the Square route of Pie times phytagoras's theory for everyone to decide on one of them. What do you think?

Not really talking about Adam and Eve. More along the science route. How can you have an egg without someone to lay that egg? How could an egg possible just pop out of nowhere then surprise! A chicken! or some other deformity that tastes like chicken. Eve came from dirt and one of Adam's ribs, supposedly.
