What an incredible letdown if this is the case! The game is made for playing online!

I suspect that won't be the final packaging design. It's not unheard of for Wikipedia articles to be inaccurate and/or out-of-date. Let's hope this is one of those cases - especially as the picture is actually sourced from an imageshack account, not an official Nintendo site.
