transparency

i want to make a skin with transparency involved, as in a normal skin with parts that are etheral or like wind walk... so far i dont think it can be done because everytime i use transparency it comes out as team color please help only if you know how please dont get my hopes up by posting and making me think some one has a solution to find out what you posted is "hmmmm... im not sure check google!" because i have, but if some one does no there is no way to do this please tell me so im not on a wild goose chase

thanks but thats not quite what i was looking for, i meant instead of transparency on the skin being an alpha, if there was a way to make it transparent
