Well, I've heard of many different features that can come with a modded Wii. Just like many tampered things, it seems cooler, but there are some risks...

benefits:

play games from any region
play backup games (GC and Wii)
play homebrew games

I dont have a modded one though as I think it is too risky.

Modding just seem's to be an annoyance, and in the end, it is really risky. So I will not bother.

I am thinking about it currently. Apparently you can update it with a modchip, also. Some modchips you can also turn off, so if there is a problem it doesnt matter.

I would like to mod my Wii, but I am wary of the possibility that an internet update might brick it. For the moment I am watching how the D2C modchip plays out. If after a while it is still working with no problems I will be getting one.

I've read of ways that allow dvd playback on modded Wii's too. I think the benefits of being able to play "backups" :cough: very tempting.

i heard that super mario galaxy dosent work on modded wiis. you have to do some modchips update.
