A mac is just another computer, in fact Appl is a bit better off in that:
A) the Apple was the real first "Consumer" home computer, specifically designed and sold to be used by people at there home.
Apple grosses the most income due to the stability of the company and its user-base, with no real technical disadvantages and the strognest reputation on computers next to IBM, they are considered elite by the user who knows it.
Apple pc's are much more stable in that they keep much of there equipment liscensing and multimedia in-house to the company, where as the mainstreaw Window platforms are the whores of the industry.

computers are alot like women in that:
Apple is like the average housewife, not extremely exspensive doesnt talk back, has virtually(pun intended) no flaws, and has profited much more in the industry because it doesnt outsource its technology and stay in what would be called the bull-market of computers.
whereas, companies like Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, and the like are the sluts of the industry, always fighting over one another to get the competitive edge, they sell out to any and all manufacturers to get to the top. These Computers range form completely useless(compag, hp) to moderately acceptable(dell) but are almost always hindered by bad software configurations and horrendous tech support. This immortal battle between great sales and horrible quality really balances out this group of companies as they can never seem to do it just right to have a solid winner, theres always something.
and then there is the whore:
Alienware , Falcon, AMD, these companies are what many consider the creme de la creme, litterally paying what you get for(with no remorse), these pcs are the teenage boys wet-dream and wall-poster, so hot you want to touch em but there just so far out of reach or incredibly intimidating because of there social stature and the bar they tend to set.
The rock,porn,music stars of the industry, they are so similar to the sluts in there outsourcing yet its the outsourcing that these comapnies do that keeps the window-platform side alive by keeping the product in view of the public in the form of ad-campaigns for computer games and tuner-car models at the E3 Expo.
It is really hard to stamp a "best computer" sticker on the machines of today, the market changes so rapidly you never really know what is next.
But as for quality of product and reliability, I would say apple has my vote and I dont even have one. And I only say this because IBM jsut got bought out by soem chinese firm and its HQ is now over there. YES, THATS RIGHT, IBM IS NOW CHINA: not that its bad, just, it seems to spoil what makes a product unique when its get thrown about the foreign masses. Oh, and people lose jobs too....Suck.
