Bridgeport man accused of fatally shooting man who installed his fence
Play the video (05/10/06) BRIDGEPORT - An elderly Bridgeport man is accused of fatally shooting a man who improperly installed his fence.
Police responded Tuesday to gunfire and reports of a man with a machete at 70-year-old Jesus Yanes’s Jackson Avenue home. Officers found Jose Vargas, 40, lying in the driveway with gunshot wounds and a laceration to his neck. Vargas was pronounced dead when medical assistance arrived.
Authorities say Yanes, who was covered in blood, was arrested without incident. A witness says Yanes became upset after Vargas mistakenly installed a fence upside down and demanded payment anyway. Yanes is being held on $2 million bond.
This guy Vargas' kids attend the school that I work at. 2nd, 4th and 6th graders. After he shot the man he tried to cut his head off. The article says there were lacerations on Vargases' neck. I asked my brother, who is a Bridgeport Police Officer (Verbal Kint) what the story was and he said the 70 year old could'nt cut through the spine of Vargas which prevented decapitation. He also said when the guy was getting booked in the detective bureau he was jumping around laughing "I killed him, I killed him" but he was pissed off that he did'nt get to cut the man's head off.
I went to see the family and attened the wake and the really sad part is the 6th grader asked me "Do you think it hurt my daddy when he was being killed"
Out of all the crazy shit that has happened while workin for the BOE, this takes the cake....
