Intro's Mic Problem

Intro is sleeping and I'm at work bored...so maybe someone can solve this problem be the time he wakes up.

Intro bought a new Logitec Premium Headset (non usb) yesterday. The problem he is having is getting the volume of his voice high enough for other people to be able to hear it. As long as noone is shooting or running you can hear his voice crystal clear...just at low volume.

We have turned up the transmit voume all the way in both CZ and in the menu that pops up when you click the speaker in system tray. We have also checked all the mic gain boost buttons.

We decided to try to isolate the problem.

We plugged the headset into my computer, the voice was fine. = Not the headset.

(headset back at intro's computer) turned CZ off; turned on the defualt record program that comes with windows xp; still quite and distant. = not CZ

This would led me to believe it's problem with the soundcard.
It's a Creative SB Audigy 2 zs The driver is 5.12.4.445

I went to the creative page to see if there was a new driver...the most recent one listed was 1.xx.xx something....this confused me, I would think the newest would 5. something.

And one more thing to add confusion...when intro uses my headset (also a logitec premium headset BUT USB) the voice works fine.

So that's the stepswe have taken thus far. Anyone have a suggestion?

I would still download that new driver at sound blaster. Try it out. You could always roll back the driver if needed.

Does the motherboard have a native sound capability? Like does it have a mic and sound jack also? If so, try it there. And if it works fine, then I would believe it would be the sound card.

If the only way to get sound is via the soundcard, try swapping your sound card in for intros. And try it again. If that works fine, the its def. Intro's sound card and may have a defective line in for the mic.

Hear that intro? Pop open the case and see if you can find a headphone and mic jack on the mother board somewhere....if not...then we will put my sound card in this evening to see if it works.

Rock...does that mean we would need the dirvers to my sound card to be installed on to intro's computer as well?

TRY THE NEW DRIVER FIRST! Unless you did that already.

EDIT: OH! and no need to pop open the case to see if the motherboard has sound capability. It should be on the back where the mouse, USB, and Ethernet jack is.

And yes, if you guys switch cards, then he will need to install the drivers for the card also.

I downloaded the updated driver and ran it.

It told me I don't have Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.

Device manager tells me SB A 2 ZS is installed and working properly.

Lost again..
