Is pre-ordering really necessary?

i really don't think that pre-ordering any games is necessary at all, games rarely sell out first day and if they do you could still probably get the game within the same week

theres no point in paying to preorder it. you can get the game in a couple of days anyways...

I hardly ever pre-order games.. I usually wait until I find out what reviewers say to buy games anyway.
