Guys, Reviving threads is only a problem if it has already drawn to a conclusion. This thread will allways be helpful, for the new members that come.

When Im older, I want to be a games programmer or desighner . I know I sound like one of them people who thinks "i like games, so i can become a games desighner, and make shit loads of cash, and enjoy what i do!!!" . But i really am going to try my best to get that job, wether it requires college, a a year in university, or 5 years in university. Ive got my heart set on that job. One of the main reasons that I do map making. I want tohe experience, of originality in desighning games, and also, the programming of them . I get annoyed (but dont say so) when I sense that people think of map editing as just a little "game" thing ; and using flash as "really making it youself, not just editing it" . I know a few people who can use flash, and I'd probably say, that only my mate steve, who has wc3, and has done a very small amount of amateur map making on it can apreicate that it is not a "game" to make maps.

Let me put it this way: As soon as uve removed the mellee triger, and when u dont use mellee units in your map, it is blank. The map editor is the tool, you use, and you make the map using that tool. You make it youself, the tool doesn't, you just use it, thats a diference. Now, imagine a builder trying to build a house with no cement, or tools, or equipment. The house would have to be made out of air, and so, would quite frank;y, not be a house. And if he uses a tool, does that make him "not making it himself, because someone else provides the equipment"? No, of course not, a saw cant cut wood by itself ( not even a chain saw, it doesn't cut wood unless you tell it what to cut, and measure it all out, ect) . And ive had one person who I know at school who understood what i meant. I really apreciated that they'd said that (although didn't tell the person i was that apreciative over something as small as understanding one thing) because, alot of effort goes into the map making comunity; and most people who think that it doesn't, have not the capability to make an expert map themselves.

Hmm, i supose i strayed off topic quite vigorously there! o_O I cant help but realize that if im not careful, i'm ganna end up like Fladian when it comes to posting :S

(in terms of size and the high readings on the babble-o-meter )

Well, anyway, I have my heart set on games programming and games desighning, either would suit me. I spend a lot of time on my computer at home, and its like another limb, to me. (And i really consider my watch which I even wear in bed, to be as important as another finger to be. When i take it off in the shower (the only times I ever take it off, just twice a day) it is like poping a finger out of place, and poping it back in its socket when i come back out, after an hour. ( And I am able to pull my fingers out of my sockets without pain, but it feels very wierd, and I hate weird feelings, so I never ever do it - I found out I had the ability, acidently)

You just about stated the same thing I thought one and a half year ago, though I am aiming for something different now because of variant reasons. Before you take a step too many, ask yourself the question again after a year or two.

Uhhh... okay, so, what is your point?

Not even close...

Yes, well, watch your arm a bit then. I don't want you to get in the same state at me at a certain moment, especially considering what kind of studies you are planning of doing.

Don't worry. Quite an amount of people can do that - including me. Though I can do a few other things more, which is quite bad for the bodyparts. Unfortunately, I'm addicted to the "worse" ones.
