If you thought the cold war was bad, just wait until a few wacko countries get nukes.

TEHRAN, Iran -- Iran's president insists his country will produce the nuclear energy that Iran says it needs for civilian use.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country isn't worried about talk of sanctions over its nuclear program. He told state-run radio that Iranians won't allow foreigners "to block their progress."

Iran's foreign minister said Tehran will end all voluntary cooperation with the United Nations if it's referred to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.

Officials from Britain, France and Germany said talk of sanctions is premature. British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said that while Tehran could face sanctions, military action is not being considered.

This week Iran removed some U.N. seals from its main uranium enrichment facility and resumed research on nuclear fuel. But officials said they have no plans to produce nuclear fuel.

the fact that it is for nuclear "energy" may or may not be legit. the scary thing is it puts the tools to make "bombs" that much closer to their finger tips. this is not a country of stability or one who likes to get along with its neighbors. it really is a pretty big deal, like bush or not.

yah but who made the US the police of the world, why should any country be stopped from making nuclear energy? if we're going on that logic i think any unstable country should be stopped from making oil because they could potentially be used in tanks as well as generators.

and btw what has iran done to its neighbours... ever? what i'm saying is that the reason that this whole nuclear energy "crisis" that america is trying to build up is because the US does not want anyone to have any arms equal to their own, and more importantly they want to begin a regime change in Iran that would be more friendly to the US' oil interests.

if we look at the track record of america's foriegn policy u can clearly see that they really dont care about saving ppl, or spreading democracy ( which is another topic altogether). If they did they would have helped out bosnia, rwanda, and a million other nations that had problems. All i'm saying is that when we read these kind of stories in the paper or whatever, just take a step back and really think to urself, why is this an issue? why isnt taiwan, or north korea or chechnya or kashmir an issue? why isnt the fact that india or pakistan or north korea having nuclear energy as big of an issue?

can u say oil?

*in mr. rogers voice

"Can you say oil neighbor?"

"...good! I knew you could."

how about this one:

can u say NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST?

And yes, China, North Korea, and any other rogue nation that has nuclear capability is a great threat to the entire planet.

If I wasn't busy, I would write a long post to explain. But I can't. Later, perhaps.

Im pretty sure the Uranium used in an atomic bomb must be at least 93% U-239, and the stuff used in reactors is only 40% u-239. Correct me if Im wrong on that, but I dont think they'd figure out how to inrich there U-239 in the reactor. Its a long process. So they REALLY cant use that Uranium. It wont work as an atomic bomb.
