Heh, Warhammer 40000 is my favorite universum. I wonder how would fare a MMOFPS based on WH40k... 60 ppl on each side shooting against eachother? Total rampage!

Actually, the difference between magic and technology are not too far apart. Making a story which involves both could be pretty interesting as well, and something I must admit that I never read before. My first thought went to a time travel or a different dimension in which the difference is made very clear, though admitted that it can be quite hard to explain both in detail. But all in all, it would be something I could find interesting, despite not liking sci-fi in general.

Hmm... something to think about.

ya it could be cool but the writter would have to have alot of skill or it would turn our very very stupid[/b]
Well, being very stupid won't do the trick, I'm afraid, Alekill. Even if you are not thinking enough of what you are writing about, it is nearly impossible to mix the two up while not having the intention to do so.

or just steal another universe instead of making up your own.[/b]
I rather not do that, but that's my personal opinion. I feel myself limited to a lot of things while using another's 'universe.'

how can you "steal" a universe for a story?[/b]
Some call it borrowing. I don't really mind how it is called, as long as it is understandable. If you don't get what is meant with it, use the Warcraft (plot) story as example and compare it with my story, If, and only if. Though it is in the same kind of time, they have nothing in common regarding the story or anything besides it. If, and only if has its own universe, and one I am justly proud of. :p

hey flad, is that the possibility of another story?[/b]
Don't count on it. I like writing fantasy, but I am both unable as uninterested to write sci-fi.

to "steal" a universe is to write a story using/inside that universe. for the writing i've had to do in english, i usually steal the starcraft universe or something similar. usully creating the main characters and have cameos of the real characters.

Warhammer 40,000 is basically your mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

Anyway, Liberty's Crusade is an excellent book Fladian, as is Day of the Dragon, and Speed of Darkness. Those three are all excellent books, and it really doesn't matter that they are SC and WC. The newest SC book is more on par with the second SC book, which wasn't great. Simply book-wise, the new SC book overall is very good, however, it loses a great deal of believability, and through the entire first half of the book, you continually wonder when Jim Raynor is going to wake up and realize it was all a dream. I hope this isn't much of a spoiler, but that never happens. However, the mere fact that one might even think it should happen means that almost all believability in the book has been lost, which is not good.

Anyway, the War of the Ancients trilogy is very good on its own as well. Just be sure to brush up on your WC history before you read it- WC Storyline.

wow i just relised that post was reely retarded....

Which post was "retarded," Alekill?

As for TerranUp16, which I won't quote. Seeing as I could answer it in general instead of picking out parts to answer.

Despite that I enjoy reading, I seem to enjoy the "amateur" authors more than the professional ones. Comparing the amount of amateur work I've read to the 'real' work has a giant gap inbetween. Maybe it's because many simple ideas are thrown together and the phrase could be used: "Hope for the best." (When translated to my native language, it's a phrase I use quite often) The way that the authors tries to pull out the potential is something that interests me, not necessarily the story itself. It does not mean that I'll avoid reading good stories though... and I must admit, that I haven't read anything good for a while now, present company ignored, of course.

I am familiar with the Warcraft story line in general, but it never really got me interested enough, therefore that I didn't continue to follow it. Starcraft, however, is something else. Sci-Fi rarely excites me, as I am not interested in futuristic-events. I could never write a decent sci-fi story either, as I cannot motivate myself to make it really exciting. Unfortunately, I am very limited to what I am able to write, luckily that I am already familiar with most of them. Therefore that you'll never encounter a decent sci-fi story of mine; perhaps that I'll write one someday, but I can guarantee it won't be very good. I am however interested in fantasy; and write it if necessary.

"Liberty's Crusade," is not a name that rings any bell for me, unfortunately, nor is "Speed of Darkness." I am, however, familiar with Day of the Dragon, though mostly of name than reading it.

Liberty's Crusade is the first SC book, and Speed of Darkness is the third. Both are very, very good, and should appeal to both fantasy and sci-fi readers alike.
