That was from 2005 when the wii was still in development The wii isnt like ps3.

hehe my bad, i saw Wii specs and just clicked on it, scrolled down and saw wii capable of 1080p.

but it still says ouput is capable of putting out 1080p

I'm glad Nintendo is taking a more defensive stance on the console war. It's not all about money for them. They realized that the wii will satisfy customers for longer than 4 or 5 years. This will mean better, more detailed, fun games for the wii!

A new console is not needed unless it would be something very very good. I'm happy as long as we have wii updates

actually some games output in 576 but only some, like warioware for one

576i = 50Hz
480i = 60Hz
480p = 480p, progressive scan, highest possible resolution.

The Wii is apparently able to do HD, but it doesn't have enought processing and graphical power to handle it.

The PS3 and 360 can do 720p and 1080p, which is HD of course.
