The first first RTS game was Dune for the PC. Dune: Battle for Arrakis (sega genesis) was a remake of that. Then came command & Conquer (all made by westwood). Dune 2000 came out after red alert.
Yeah, RA2 was a big time fav as well. I was better at that game then any other game I ever played. I was an avid map maker for RA2 before I came to WC3. I was the only mini-game (.ums) mapper in the community.
C&C renegade has a single player campaign, but that was not the highlight of that game. That was the first game that had the "Battlefield 1942/Battlefield 2" gameplay where it was team based with bases and vehicles and such it had for online play.
