I wish I got Intel Quad. I probably couldn't get i7 from the budget I had. I could have spent more, but I didn't want to. $400 got me a very good computer which will last me forat least another 4-5 years.

the current i7s are going to be passed up very quickly when the 25 nm chips come out. Its probably better that you didn't purchase them at this time.

That said, although we already have the technology, I'm not sure how long intel is going to hold it off the market

Purdy..

I'm getting a new computer the beginning of the month.

Processor: 3.0GHz Phenom II Quad + Xigmatec 120mm Rifle Cooler
MoBo: GIGABYTE 790GX
RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR2 Dual Channel
Video Card: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD4870
PSU: Cooler Master 600w
HDD: Wester Digital 640GB

Compared to my current computer, that's a hell of a lot better :D

That will be a sweet setup. I might up the PSU to a 750 though, to make room for expansion and upgrades later... My 650 was a good choice at the time when I put this system together, but now I wish I had a 750+....

Is there any downside to upgrading now?

Later on I want to add another HD4870, 4GB of RAM, and a 150GB VelociRaptor HDD.

Oh, and I will be running Windows 7 on my new computer :D
