What are you playing

I hate those demon summoning spells, the Protection from evil counter never seems to work for me and I always end up being mauled by my own beast (except when its a simple monster or beast summon, though) . [/b]
Are you sure? I never had any problems with it. In fact, I had a time when I kept using Gate. Did you know that a Pit Fiend is completely immune to every attack of Firkraag? They're even immune to each other's fireballs.

<div align="center"><img width=\\"501\\" class=\\"attach\\" src=\\"http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/3634/firkraagvspitfiendfh4.png\\" border='0' alt=\\"IPB Image\\" />
</div>

Also, what's a good way of beating dragons? , I always find myself talking my way out of fighting them rather than tussiling with 'em even with the dragon slayer sword & shield, and fire resistences, lol.
[/b]
There are several ways and there is no "good way." Some people like setting a load of traps in front of the dragon, some like to petrify him, some like to cloud-kill it and some like to beat it in hand to hand combat.

I personally like to face it personally. Hack on it with my 'warriors,' and cast all kind of spells on it with my mages. My clerics and thieves are the front lines as well.

@Xeridanus> Aside from Monster Bash, have you ever tried out Heart of Darkness, even though I've mentioned it quite a few times already?
[/b]
Nope, sorry. I haven't tried that one.

I have a story of when i first got into oblivion that i would like to share with you all. (im still using the one character, but this story happened over 180 hours of in-game-play ago). enjoy!

As soon as i emerged from the dark depths of the imperial prison sewers, i had no intention of finding Jauffre, that guy to give the amulet to. Instead i found the closet tavern. just outside the entrance was an imperial guard. i decided to sit and have a chat with the guy, he looked lonely. after exhuasting all the topics of conversation i left and went inside nd talked to the bar-keep. She said to me that there was a vampire or necromancer (i forget) in the nearby caves and that this was bad for buisness. she promised to make it worth my while if i got rid of it. i talked a bit more with the local occupants of the tavern then made my way upstairs. while up there i had a look around, there were hard level locks on the doors, no chance of getting in there. there was also the usual bunch of miscelaneous clutter that ends up in houses such as brooms and buckets and stuff that is quite purposely, (and obviously) useless clutter. I picked up a broom, i didn't put it in my inventory, it was still in my hand, but the person behind me saw this as an act of stealing, well, guess what happened then. I left as fast as possible, but not fast enough. the guard i talked to before entering the tavern, stopped me and said i could either co-operate, pay the fine and give back all my stolen goods or go to the nearest jail pay my due in time and give back all my stolen goods or resist arrest. i decided, it was a msimple theft, i would pay the fine. i imediately got transported to cheydinhal castle, somewhere i had never been before. well, that wasn't part of the deal. so to get even, i shot a guard in the back of the head, then a message appeared "your actions have been noted by forces unseen". well, that can't be good. having never been here before, i wandered around a bit and found the barracks, but not knowing it was the barracks, i went inside.

at this point a would like to point out that the price of murder was 1000 gold, something i just couldn't afford. as i entered the bustling room, all became focused. they all became focused towards me, they stood up, almost in unison, and faced me. well, i can tell you, i found that door pretty fast and was out of there even faster. as i tried to leave the castle, the locals ganged up and charged towards me, as well as some of the guards on duty outside the barracks. i killed quite a few of them but they just seemed to get replaced just as easily. i couldn't keep it up for long, so i left there, killing a few more as i left. i stole a horse and fled into the wilderness to contemplate my next move. i decided that i could survive out here as an outlaw. but for how long?

for the next couple of days, i would simply kill anybody that stood in my way. which was usually just the imperial guards and imperial hunters patrolling the ring road. by the time my bounty had become 26,000 gold (roughly) i decided, i've had enough. i turned my self in and served my time. 216 days of imprisonment. btw, i broke the only lockpick i took in with me, trynig to pick the lock. when i got out most (if not all) of my skills had decreaed in points. and now, even after 180 hours of playing and hardly any jail time, i have only gone through 300 odd days (in game) including the 216 in jail.

:) That was for some time ago, I was just SHOCKED how fast did he die, considering the fact that I tried ten times last time I played (other game). First of all, I made 3 traps (out of 5, 2 trials unsuccessful) near the dragon. I started dialogue with him which made him hostile. Then massive attack + spells that break down protection spells ignoring immunity, spells decreasing immunity to magic, then 2 lesser sequencers at once (2x Magic Missile), that makes him huge damage (higher your mages level -> more missiles), then it's the matter of finishing him in melee (potions can be useful).

About the same kind of way that I fight him...

Regardless, sometimes a battle with a dragon can be easier than other times. After all, it all depends on the dice. Sometimes you roll beter than other times. If you constantly roll critical hits, while the dragon keeps rolling the lowest possible scores, than eventually the battle will be quite easy. Especially if your saving throws are quite good as well. ^^ The Dragon Breath's remain quite a pain, as they don't prevent all damage, even if you make a successful saving throw.

I consider Firkraag (well, the Black Dragon actually) the weakest dragons of them all... maybe it's because I tend to raise quite a high fire resistence, or maybe it's because it's the typical enemy I like to fight against and he has no specific abilities that really cause me too much damage... well, besides a failed saving throw of Aerie or Jan from his Fire Dragon Breath. :p That quite... hurts...
Regardless, I still never managed to win from the Silver Dragon. That mass petrify really annoys me... especially because I refuse to be petrified. Luckily, only a handful of creatures are able to do that... :D

A ranger also has the choice to get a racial enemy. When you face such a creature, you're immediately get a +4 in just every attack. I always find it quite a hard choice... what to choose? I don't like fighting vampires, (Bodhi's Guild, Windspear Hills) so I really like to get rid of them quickly, but the same counts for a Beholder (Lair of the Unseeing Eye, Underdark Beholder cave). Especially considering the abilities of a beholder. On the other hand, it's quite fun to hack on a Lich (City Gates, Bridge District) as well. Trolls (Druid Grove, de'Arnise Keep) remain annoying too, but they aren't too strong. Regardless, my choice usually drops on either the dragon (Windspear Hills, several right after each other in ToB) race or the Mind Flayers (Sewer of the Temple District (what the hell were they doing there anyway?) and their home in the Underdark). They're all strong and eventually you'll face every one of them quite often.
Every one of them gave me at the very least one bad memory to think back on.

Is the silver dragon that one in Underdark? If it is I don't kill her anyway, because she's so helpful, in turning you to and from Drow form.

Vampires, in my opinion are incredibly fun to fight, specially when you team up with Drizzt and his party. The "Sun-Ray" spell is amazingly effective against them,it can vapourize lots of enemies in a single spell (it may evenn destroy drow armour in Underdark too,not trieed that one :p).

Theres the Cavalier (I think) choice of Paladins which is effective agaibst Dragons too. Although, it can never use missle weapons  .

Yeah, the Silver Dragon is the one from the Underdark. Besides that she's helpful, I never really found her really 'nice.' It never really crossed my mind to kill her though, except if I managed to get that far with an evil character... which I rarely did. Just for fun I tried to kill her a few times... I never had success though.
Regardless, you don't really need her to leave the underdark anyway...

I don't like vampires. Level drain is one of the most annoying... uh... statuses in the game, in my opinion. Especially because I use a lot of spell casters, meaning that I have to set their spells all anew again. :p For some kind of reason, Aerie always gets a level drain (Mage/Cleric, two kind of spell books to organize :p), and my own character always carries the Amulet of Power (Immune to level drain).
Their ability to costantly cast dominate is one thing, but it never really bothered me too much. However, it does seem to happen a lot at times when I really don't want it to happen. :p (When I'm running, for instance)
Sunray works great against them, I know, I always used it. But I am not about to waste a sunray for every single vampire I face. As for Drizzt, well, all nice and all to have him around, but I won't let him steal my experience. By the time I fight Bodhi, I usually go in alone and immediately close the door behind me, locking Drizzt, the Paladins and the Shadow Thieves out. I'm always immune to level drain and domination anyway... and by the time I get there, I'm usually immune to just about all other stuff they have except physical damage. But hey, I'm a cleric. :p

I'm not sure about it destorying Drow armor... it never really crossed my mind, to be honest. But Sunray doesn't really work well on non-undead creatures... and I can't recall facing anything undead (besides summoned skeletons) in the underdark.

Yeah, it's the Cavalier, as I recall. But I don't play Paladins (anymore).

Okay, now here's a question: Which would you prefer? Warhammer Online or Warhammer: Mark of Chaos?

If you ask me, I'd go with the second option. Besides, I watched a video with one of the guys working on Warhammer Online and the moment I heard the part about paying to continue playing the game, I said to myself "Screw it", and closed the window that was playing the video.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is much better (probably as good as the arriving Dark Crusade expansion) and doesn't involve building a base of operations for churning out the warriors to make out your army. It's a bit more like Lords of the Realm, but with Warhammer Tabletop properties (such as the Hordes of Chaos, for example). And last I checked, an interview with the lead designer mentioned that it's bound to be out around Halloween.

So, who's looking forward to this one?

Drizzt, Paladins and Shadow thieves ?, oh my! :p

I've only ever had Drizzt and his people help me (did you know Drizzt Do'Urden is in almost every Forgotten realms game? and has his own book series).

@ Shad_Rak: Mark of Chaos looked so much better, WHO will only kill warhammer lore :( and i don't want that to happen, just as WoW did to Wc3, but that worlfd was ready to adavance, I wanna see what happens after the storm of Chaos step-by-step, not horribly remastered into a crazy Online world (which I will not be buying, I already am paying for Wow :p)

Uhem... I finally managed to enter Spellhold. I must say, in one moment I thought this game is pure shit :p Well, I sacrificied my health... First clash with Jon wasn't big deal, after my experiences with dragons and liches :p Sequencets did their job well. Second fight against Bohdi it was also quite easy (sun spells were useful). Actually I'm in chapter five (bleh), one more time (after bad memories from Icewind Dale II :p) traveling through Underdark...

Well done on reaching Spellhold and underdark. You are, in my opinion, at the best point in the game (with the exception of the wood elf city bit). Soon however, It gets crap and surreal, lol.

If I ever get Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, I'm definetely gonna be playing as the Hordes of Chaos just cause they're walking tanks (and I'm surpised that Khorne is making yet another appearance, though they could give Tzeentch and Nurgle a chance I'd rather not imagine Slaanesh going in - too disturbing, the Daemonettes and Keepers of Secrets, plus the Slaanesh Steeds).

You can also ask the knights of the Radiant Heart ask to help you, just like visiting the Shadow Master. He's more than willing to send his "best assassins" with you. If you played everything right the first time you got to face Bodhi, then the same mage is still there to help you out. If you have the Cleric-stronghold, you could try to ask the priests to help you out. Quite the army. :p

Drizzt Do'Urden is a legend among legends.

Uhem... I finally managed to enter Spellhold. I must say, in one moment I thought this game is pure shit :p Well, I sacrificied my health... First clash with Jon wasn't big deal, [/b]
You must remember two things here.
One, you are in a divine dream, facing Bhaal and stuff - not really the first time, but oh well. And Irenicus is weakened. Not only did you bring six other mages along, who aren't really weak, but you also completely caught him on surprise. As if that isn't enough, he just replaced his own soul with yours. It takes a while to adjust to that.
The next time you'll face him, he'll be stronger. Much stronger.

SPOILER
Even though he\'s weakened then too... only the third time you face him he\'s on full power.

Second fight against Bohdi it was also quite easy (sun spells were useful). [/b]
When is that? =\
I can't recall fighting Bodhi during the spellhold period, except the moment when turning into a Slayer. I can't really say that battle was fair, as she ran away halfway. Bodhi is in general quite easy, IMO. She's quite hard solo though.

Actually I'm in chapter five (bleh), one more time (after bad memories from Icewind Dale II :p) traveling through Underdark...
[/b]
Chapter five... Underdark. To be honest, I am quite fond on it. :p You did go with Saemon, did you? If not, you missed some good stuff, one of them being (probably) the best cloak in the game (Reflects all attacking spells) and a part of The Wave. If anone uses spears, it has a good spear there too.
Perhaps the most important thing: It has a shop that doubles the prices when you sell something. :p (and believe o' me, you could use some money later on)
I personally ran out of gold during my first chapter of ToB after collecting about 20,000 before going there. :p I thought I had enough to buy most things I was in need of. But then again, I never casted that many spells from scrolls before. :p

*uhhum*

Nah, not really my opinion. The hunt for Irencius is quite good too. Though the Elf City is definitely one of the best parts of the game. Especially the first time I reached it, I was surprised. Enemies from all kind of places you used to face in 1 v 1 combat instead of all at the same time, not to mention that you have to face a dragon - though I can't recall ever having trouble with that one.

Spellhold always remains fun... but I always have the feeling that I forgot something when I leave it.
